The Grump.

Oh dear. And Dougal has brought out the good camera to capture this Disapproval! He does not want us to be in any doubt that he Disapproves. Doog's face: In focus, as it should be. Everything else: out of focus, because only Doog matters. Nothing else matters.

(Actually didn't Buntallica do a song called "Nothing Else Matters". Or was it "Hoomins Don't Matter"?)

Maybe Doog is a fan of Bunny Metal music!
Maybe he likes to dance and *THUMP!* along to it!

Anyway, we hoomins had better straighten up and fly right! Or we're cruisin' for a *THUMP!*in' !

He wants those cheeky jowly, jowly cheeks rubbed and his ears manipulated and scratched.
ENT. Ear. Nose. Throat.
Think of all the ways our breathing is improved when our neck, ears and throats are rubbed, massaged, cleared up, medicated, etc...
Now imagine that on a bunny scale with those complex ears and noses. I even press gently on their eyes when I give face rubs.
They haven't killed me in my sleep yet. Yet.

What a grump, indeed! But a cute grump that you can't help but love.

Dougal's selfie.

He pretty much looks like he has given up on us ... like a coach who's team just lost their 100th game in a row by a score of about 1,000 to 0.

This reminds me of an old bunny bunnytale. The story of the Bunny Over Lords new clothes. If that bunny is grumpy then I'm a sweet, sweet bunny boy. Oh, I get it now...Our labels were switched.

... neh, more like 'The Champ' ;-)

Bill? Sharon? Who was late with Dougal's carrotini? This selfie proves it's 5 past 3 Dougal clock time and I don't see any cocktail in the picture.

Fleetie said...

Poor Dougal has been sitting there for 3 whole days now, waiting for his treats and a Carrotini or 5!

How is this bunny-with-the-sumptuously-upholstered-ears supposed to survive on thin air?!

Doog Disapproves Of being kept waiting!

He thinks he would sack his present indentured servants, but the rest of us are so very stoopid he doubts new ones would be any better. He may just say "You're fired!" and try his luck on new ones, anyway.

Well, it is well known that Queen Cinnamon used to call them "lazy idiots."

Rabbits' Guy said...

That left ear reminds me a bit of the glowing ball in Times Square on New Year Eve. If it reaches the bottom before lunch is served, well blind your eyes before looking toward Minneapolis!

Fleetie said...

Queen Cinnamon may have Disapproved Of her hoomins sometimes (like for example, when one of them dared to photograph her while she was in the middle of getting changed into her winter coat), but I am very sure that really, she Approved Of them a lot, because they rescued her, looked after her very well indeed, and they helped her educate many stoopid hoomins about how intelligent and how full-of-personality rabbits really are. They even helped her become famous!

Right now I have my Queen Cinnamon oil painting illuminated by its own LED lamp, from below, so that I can see her royal and noble self!

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

Right you are Fleetie. I was just recalling her being a bit put off because of circumstances surrounding Bill and Sharon's anniversary. Not at all typical behaviour on Cinnamon's part. Your lamp sounds lovely.

What a beautiful, soft bundle of disapproval.

You know, I have a feeling that Dougal is still waiting to hear something. Something important...perhaps another of Fleetie's paeans to Monday? A more complete list of duties expected from humans? Some poetry worthy of his ears? Promises regarding the sanctity of cranberries? I don't know, but so far he doesn't seem to have heard what he is listening for. Come on you all, let's get with the program!

Fleetie said...

It's funny you should say that! Have I ever mentioned on here that I Disapprove Of Mondays?

Well I do, and today has been a real nuisance! *THUMP!*

I hoped I'd come in, sit at my desk for 8 hours, do some surfing, and go home. That is how Mondays should be.

But no. Some software I wrote was not working on just ONE of 8 PC that run it.

It's taken me 75% of the day to get it working.

*THUMP!*

Can I go home now? (Oh. Still another 1.5 hours to go.)

*THUMP!*

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

And still no assurances about the cranberries and the pumpkins...

Kelly Moore said...

Fleetie, how does The Cure song go? Any of the verses address M*nd*y quite well.

Monday you can hold your head...or fall apart...

My husband had a similar experience last week with trying to load some programs on a Windows 7 box with similar, inexplicable results.

Hope everyone to whom Thanksgiving Day applies had a happy one!

Fleetie said...

I don't care if Monday's blue,
Tuesdays grey, and Wednesdays too.
Thursday, I don't care about you.
It's Friday; I'm in Love.

Was that what you meant? I hope I remembered the words; I didn't bother googling it.

ISTR different verses use different words, anyway. It was never one of my favourite Cure songs. Too shiny and happy.

Maybe that first line should have been:

Monday morning: Disapprove!

animasophi said...

I have to say, Dougster is one incredible disapprover, but that's one long shift even for him ;-)

Kelly Moore said...

Ah, Fleetie, shiny and happy is why I like it! But your first line is definitely the best.

A thought has begun to fill me with dread… Is The End perhaps near? You will recall that when the Eighth Seal of the Bunpocalypse was opened, the visage of The Great Disapprover was revealed. And lo, there commenced a Mighty Thumping, and all hid themselves in their dens and their bedrooms.

Then again, maybe it is as Auntie Jane suggested — someone screwed up and the expected tribute of craisins and pumpkin has failed to appear?

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

Dear Valsainte, I didn't actually intend to suggest that cranberries and pumpkin were not being offered in prodigious quantities to Dougal. Over time I came to suspect a certain solidarity between Dougal and his treats, an ominous feeling that he was waiting for Sharon and Bill to commit to the sanctity of all cranberries and all pumpkin, a promise that his treats' brethren would not be desecrated at a time of general thanks giving. This is social activism of a high order. Our bunny's ear stands listening, a silent witness, alone, yet undaunted, asking if we understand the cost of all those pies, all those sauces, waiting to hear us say, "No, no next year will be different, next year EVERY cranberry will be allowed to fulfill its true destiny, EVERY spoonful of pumpkin will find its way to a bunny's tummy." I mean, this is really the world we all want, isn't it?

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

Fleetie, How was Monday?

Fleetie said...

Jane: Well, it was a M*nd*y.

But surprisingly, I managed to get 3 things on my list done, so in fact it went ok.

BUT, believe me, I still very much Disapproved Of having to get up at ridiculous o'clock in the wretched morning. I complained and moaned and grumped my way through the nasty getting-up-and-ready-and-out-to-work routine. *THUMP!*

And I did that again, today (Tuesday). And I shall do it all week until it's the weekend! *THUMP!*

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

Fleetie, many have alluded to this before, but I would like to assure you that I, too, think you have the makings of a fine rabbit.

Fleetie said...

Ha-ha! That is definitely a nice compliment! Thank-you!

But there is a very important difference between me disapproving and a bunny disapproving:

The bunny looks cute.

Auntie Jane (It is official!) said...

Fleetie, cuteness is only skin deep. It is what's on the inside that counts. Nevertheless, you are a little cutie, too. Although, as I said, that's not what's important.

calicomomcat said...

Ohh Dougal, such a long time to be so grumpy. Does somebunny want a big hug? Well, not so much, maybe. But you do look so like a cuddly stuffed (as in fuzzy, not taxidermy) animal.

sallyneary said...

Is anyone else starting to wonder what Dougal has done with his humans?

almtsbb said...

Yes, we need to find someone brave enough to risk meeting a very grumpy Dougal to go check on Bill and Sharon. Bunny domination may be starting one Blog at a time.

Perhaps Dougal sent Bill and Sharon on a Thanksgiving getaway using frequent disapproval miles...

But I have been wondering also and hoping all is well....
