Hey all, just throwing a gratuitous pic of Dougal up there because we got a letter that there's a shelter in New Hampshire that could use some help.
The Animal Rescue League of New Hampshire recently took charge of 49 rabbits and 6 cats in their area, and as you might imagine, they could use some help in finding home for these animals, or donations to take care of them.
So! If you can donate, visit their website, or if you're looking for a pet, you can visit their page on Petango to see who's up for adoption (note, they've named some of the buns after states: that's not the location they're in). There's a very short news story about the surrender of the pets here.
I know it's after the holidays and money's just generally tight all around, but you can donate any amount, and every bit helps. Thanks!

Thank you so much for sharing this story! I know as a community bunny people are some of the nicest people on the planet! My love and thanks to everyone!
posted to my Facebook for all my NH friends. I couldn't stop crying when I saw the nails on the rabbits from the news story. The ARL of NH is such a lovely shelter. These buns couldn't have found a better safe haven.
I am foster mommy to three of the buns in the worst shape. Take heart they are doing fantastic and are wrapped in arms of love and kindness both at home and at the shelter.
On behalf of rescue buns we *APPROVE* of Helmi, and all bunny rescuers and fosterers everywhere. Fostering, if only for a week or two, can make an enormous difference in the life of a bun and the ability of shelters to manage their limited resources.
Plus, rescue bunnies ROCK!!!
Oh, and NBB, please expect a thorough ear-thwacking In the middle of the night as a gratuity for calling Dougal's picture "gratuitous."
There is a special place in Heaven for people who shelter abused and neglected animals, HK and everyone at the NH shelter working so hard and from the heart.
Count me in ~ Sharma
Done,
From my confirmation message: This donation is in memory of: Her Majesty Queen Cinnamon of DisapprovingRabbits.com
It's my pleasure to pass along a "Hi" from Fleetie to everybun and convey his deepest seasonal Disapproval! :-)
(All's well, he's just experiencing hardware/captcha combination of technical difficulties for a short while)
We disapprove of Fleetie's technical problems!
Hi Bun moms and dads!
I thought that I would give an update! One of the nine bunnies in the shelter has been adopted! This is great news! In other good news- two of the three girls I have in my home look like they will be up for adoption later this week!
Thank you personally to everyone that has donated. Any donation no matter the size makes a huge difference. As a reward to all the three I am fostering say you can boop noses (just once though)!
Helmi: Fabulous! Good luck with the adoptions and the health issues. Sounds like those little ones will be fine.
Well, we know they are in good hands. Hope everyone who is able is contributing their nickel (my Dad's expression). I T the Nth you rock. Queen Cinnie has made this world a better place.
Furbeast, let's not encourage Dougal to do anymore ear-thwacking. I'm afraid he is already something of a poster child for bunns whose really recalcitrant hoomins' ear-thwackings have left his lovely ears in disarray. Oh, well, perhaps it is just his chosen "look". Thwack away, Dougal, for a couple of days in a row. In the future when they use the word gratuitous we want them to think of gratuitous whackings!
Hello As President and CEO of the Animal Rescue League (ARL) I want to thank DR for the shout out. However, we assisted Manchester Animal Shelter with the rabbit case and have 17 of the 49 rescued rabbits.
ARL is the sole shelter helping the six Persian cats.
We love your site. Happy New Year everyone!

Hmm, can you send Dougal over to England to give me a good ear-thwacking?!
Yeah, sure, Fleetie, just send over Stonehenge, the Royal jewels, and take soccer back!
Thank you so much for posting about this. I am from NH (now living in MO) and was actually visiting in NH when this story broke. It is simply heartbreaking. I have a feeling if the bunnies had been adoptable before I had left, I would have been flying home with another bunny.
At the ARL we just love this website! Thanks again for all your help in publicizing this story. Currently, we have about 20 rabbits still available for adoption. We find that often times once a story is not longer front page news, its harder to generate interest. But we can't explain that to all the rabbits we have in the shelter! If you live close enough to get here and would like to adopt we encourage you to come by. We are open Tuesday and Thursday from 1-7pm and Friday-Sun 12-5. Also, it has been incredibly costly to spay/neuter all these rabbits so if you cannot adopt but can give to the cause please log onto https://rescueleague.ejoinme.org/donate. You can also get there through our homepage www.rescueleague.org.
Thank you for all that you do!
