Cinnamon

Hello all.

It is with deep sadness that Sharon and I tell you that Cinnamon has passed away. She had a wonderful life of some 13 years.

As you can imagine, this is an emotional time for us. We're going to take a break from the website for a week. Starting next Monday, we'll have a week of rabbits for you (that were set to run this week), and then we'll see what happens from there. No decisions have been made; we're just taking it one day at a time.

Please feel free to post your comments below. If you feel like donating, please give your money, resources, or time to a local animal shelter, which is where we found Cinnamon.

And, as always, for your love and support of this website, we thank you.

Cinnamon, Latte, Hazel, et.al. inspired a whole generation of Disapproving Rabbits to whip their owners into shape and create blogs to share their disapproval tips and pictures. All Disapproving Rabbits salute Cinnamon on the sad occasion of her passing. Our condolences.

I could not say it better than RG and FabFurs. I will add what DKM posted when my dear sweet Oliver died, because it has stuck with me:
There is a sacredness in tears.
They are not the mark of weakness,
but of power.
They speak more eloquently
than 10,000 tongues.
They are the messengers
of overwhelming grief,
of deep contrition,
and of unspeakable love.

- Washington Irving

My heart goes to you as you grieve the loss of your precious bun and are overwhelmed with the memories of all the love and joy she brought you

Thank you, Bill and Sharon, for letting us know during this incredibly difficult time for you.
I can't imagine the number of people (and rabbits) you and your family of buns have helped and educated over the years with this blog, videos on Youtube, adoption postings and merchandise.
...the number of people who saw these pictures and never realised that a bun should have out of cage time or the occassional pumpkin treat.
...the number of people who learned about bunnies and subsequently adopted as some of your fans have already attested.
...the number of people who went to a shelter and saved a life.
The list goes on and is a legacy to Cinnamon.
Please take time and be good to yourselves.

Oh dear. It's the time I have been dreading; time to say "Goodbye" to our wonderful, cinnamon-coloured rabbit friend with the super-expressive ears, the lovely, but sometimes oh-so-disapproving mouf; and the barrels of bunnitude and personality.

I first came across Cinnamon and Disapproving Rabbits in about February or March 2008, and I have not really missed any entries here since then. I was addicted, and I always looked forward to "Sunday Cinnamon" when I could get another "fix" of my favourite rabbit and her beautiful face and her entertaining antics.

Cinnamon must be one of the most world-famous rabbits ever, and she and this website have done so very much for the cause of rabbit advocacy, educating people like me on what a joy rabbits can be; how they are such characters, with moods and emotions and personalities, just as we have. There is no doubt at all that Cinnamon and her life have improved the lot of rabbits all over the world, by spreading the knowledge of Rabbit Joy.

The fact that she lived to the almost-record-breaking age of 13 years must of course be largely thanks to the loving, adoring care heaped on her by her devoted hoomins, Sharon and Bill, and the happiness of the life they gave her - a rabbit previously rejected and left in a shelter. Can we imagine how much Cinnamon loved her hoomins? I am sure she approved of them very much indeed - even if her bunny mouf seemed to disapprove! And I approve too, of the tender loving care that Sharon and Bill showed to Cinnamon.

I look back fondly on some of my favourite Cinnamon moments. My favourite ever was That Pancake Video; she really looked like a little person, sitting there poking up out of her rabbit maze, with her paws on the top, munching her pancake!

Then there were the times that she ate her pumpkin from the tins; the time she was on TV with Sharon, sitting on her lap, patiently, while disapproving of her interviewer; the picture of her more recently, with her face and both front paws in a bowl full of yummy salad; the times she was fed the end of a very long carrot-top, and skilfully fed the entire lot into her mouf, inch by inch until it was all gone - like watching a carrot-top-sawmill in action! No doubt I'll keep remembering more as this evening goes by. Oh, and the hacky-sack disapproval, in the park!

So our beloved girl isn't here any more. Am I sad? Yes. But I am not crying, as I expected I would when this time came; I think that's because apart from knowing that this was coming, I cannot imagine that any rabbit ever could have had a better life than Cinnamon had after she met Sharon and Bill.

I guess Cinnamon's work here is done now, and what a job she made of it!

Good-night, Cinnamon; sweet dreams, pretty girl.

Love and nose-rubs,

Martin

I am so, so sorry to hear this news. I lost my baby Jack a few days ago, the same week I lost my mother, and now Cinnamon. She was a beautiful and loved bun, by so many people. Thirteen years is an impressive age. My Jack only made it to 6, but they were 6 of the most wonderful years. I am happy for all rescuers of bunnies, and I'm sure that Cinnamon helped many people realize the beauty that is the lagomorph.

All my buns will be getting Nutriberries tonight, in honor of lovely Cinnamon.

RIP Jack.
RIP Cinnamon. You were both loved very much.

I was so sorry to hear about Cinnamon. I'm sure you must be devastated.

I hope you can find it in yourselves to continue the site - It has done a lot to expand the images that people have that rabbits are only cute, fluffy and brainless.

When I see the clouds gather, I will know it's Cinnamon disapproving of us all from beyond.

I am really sorry to hear about Cinnamon. I have enjoyed seeing her throughout the weeks of Disapproving Rabbits, and feel personally affected by her passing. She'll always live in our hearts, and she'll always be the celebrity bun she was intended to be.

I am so incredibly sad for you and the rabbit world! Cinnamon was an incredibly bright and beautiful bun and spirit, who brought so much joy to my life and many others, I know. I send you much love and healing and peace - to you, her human family, and to Cinnamon's bright bright spirit!

I feel certain that in her heart, Cinnamon never actually disapproved of her humans because she knew that you gave her the best possible life for a bunny. Thank you for taking a rescue bun into your life, and thank you for sharing her with us.

It sounds like there are far too many former disapprovers already at the rainbow bridge, waiting to welcome her and show her around. I know my Bear is binkying at the chance to meet her idol.

Cinnamon, you will be missed so deeply. Sending so much love to your family. I just lost my sweet boy, Blackadder, on Thursday. He was featured on your site on St. Patrick's Day this year. We are so heartbroken. I hope that our bunnies are looking down on us with their usual disapproving frowns.

It's difficult to put into words the pain we feel from the loss of Cinnamon. Our heartfelt condolences to Sharon and Bill (as I write this my rabbit approached to check on me, he dissaproves and hops away) Cinny will be fondly remembered. May heaven be filled with pancakes and nutriberries.

I got the news from some bun friends on facebook and immediately started to cry. There aren't alot of ppl in the world who appreciate the many moods of rabbits. Since we found Cinnamon's book, my partner has made it her mission to take it almost everywhere she goes. We've shared it with all our friends and family. Cinnamon touched so many hearts and having the book (t-shirts, etc!) reminded us we aren't alone in our obsessive love for buns. Right now, that very special book is where it always is - the sole text on our coffee table. My partner and our 8 buns send our deepest sympathies! Oh my God, I'm SO sorry to hear this. What a wonderful ambassador Cinnamon was for the rabbit community and beyond! I don't think there will ever be another bunny that could throw out such an incredible look and attitude of disapproval. She was a legend! I'm so sorry for you loss.

We felt as though we knew Cinnamon personally, my daughter and I. We will all remember Cinnamon, and eventually you will be able to smile when you think of her. I too wore my DR shirt today in Cinnamon's memory, I always loved it when someone would ask me about my DR shirt which gave me the chance to tell them all about this blog and Cinnamon. I agree with those who said Cinnamon must be one of the most famous rabbits in the world today. She will be missed by many, I hope you find the will to continue with DR though I understand if not. Losing a beloved bun is a very difficult thing and what's important now is your well being in coping with her passing. take care.

We all share in your sorrow of your loss of your beloved Cinnamon-girl. Thank you for sharing her with us over the years, and letting her be such a great bunny-ambassador. She has left her mark on helping bunnies achieve the ranks of 'house pets', and helped educate the uninformed how wonderful and fun bunnies can be as pets.
What a lucky and beloved bunny to have spent most of her life being loved and valued, and knowing human companionship.

This breaks my heart to read this. My family and I also have a mini rex named Cinnamon. I had to look twice to realize it wasn't my mother posting about our baby. The sinking feeling I felt when for that split second I thought it was my Cinnamon, well, it was only for a second, nothing compared to the pain i can imagine you must be feeling. But, I must say, I know your Cinnamon lived an amazing spoiled life. There is nothing better than knowing you made at least one bunny's life amazing. She was a Princess! Needless to say, my heart goes out to you.

My deepest, deepest sympathy to you, Bill and Sharon. Cinnamon brought such joy to so many people including myself and my husband. We look forward to checking this blog every day and we've missed our favorite Sunday Cinnamon posts the past number of months. We knew this was coming but it still hurts nevertheless. Thank you for sharing your beautiful bunny with us all. I am sure that behind that disapproving mouf she actually had a big approving heart. We will miss her.

I am so sorry to hear that Cinnamon passed away. I hope that you can find comfort in knowing that her life with you was a good one. I have lost bunnies myself, and I know how hard it can be. So sorry to hear of Cinnamon's passing. Thirteen is an amazing lifespan for a rabbit, but no matter how long we have them, it is still so very hard when they leave. You are in thoughts and prayers, and Mickey and I will be sending some special thoughts out to Cinnamon as well.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is incredibly hard to lose such a beloved companion, especially after so many years together. I'm sure the one thing Cinnamon did approve of was being rescued from a shelter by you.

Dear Sharon and Bill

What very very sad news. Cinnamon with your help awakened many more people into the joys of being a bunny slave.. but sadly that means terrible heartache too. Her legend is far reaching... I see posts all the time on other bunny sites talking about rabbits disapproving.. You guys sharing your beloved rabbit with the world did that.

I do so hope that you will feel like you can continue the site, as it is such a joy to visit.

I will send a donation to a rabbit rescue in her name, and will be wearing my DR shirt to work today.

Binky free, Cinnamon. xxxxxxxxxxxx

She had the best life a rabbit could wish for. And inspired rabbits all over the world to show their dissapprovement.

Take care you two, this must hurt a lot.
