You must be practicing for the best case scenario, Jilly.

(work verification is "everonit" which describes all bun critics)

That's not really a typical bunny marking on Jilly's face, it's a black tear of disappointment because of our stoopidity.

OMG, I recognize that look. It's my mother, reincarnated.

Sproinging, A+. Boinging, A+. Nomming, A+. Disapproving, A+. Plays well with others, needs improvement. Jilly is an asset to the class.

Strict teacher Miss Jilly has already decorated the hoomins' results sheet with a black mark, because, as she points out, "practice" is the noun form, and when it's a verb, it is "practise" with an "s"!

Miss Jilly disapproves of the hoomins' poor spelling! *THUMP!*

I think it's "practice" (spelled the same way both times) in American English?

I've only ever seen it with an S in British/Canadian stuff.

I've looked around online trying to find a reliable reference source for Fleetie's point, but I can't find one. Miss Jilly will THUMP anyone citing Wikipedia!!

Fleetie IS British - One of our
'exchange students', if you will...

That link LOOKS reasonably credible.

Yes, it does seem that the distinction has been dropped in American English!

I disapprove! But luckily I can't THUMP!

BunFan said...

So, then I take it British Buns practise Disapproval?

Miss Jilly approves of Fleetie's source, but continues to disapprove of hoomins, purely on principle. She will therefore not give Fleetie a gold star, or move him to the front of the class. It's nothing personal; he is a mere hoomin, after all.

Fleetie said...

Quite right, too, Miss Jilly!

You can't have lowly hoomins getting Ideas Above Their Station!

Hoomins exist to serve rabbits. That is their only raison d'etre. (And forgive me for not knowing how to render here the circumflex on the first "e" of "etre", that denotes the once-present following "s" from its Latin origin.)
