That thing seems to be either a jackalope (native to the American west and seen only through the lens of many whiskey bottle bottoms) or a bassalope, native to Bloom County and the dandelion meadow, now long gone (sigh).
Neither is an appropriate companion for Dexter, obviously a bun with serious and tea-totalling taste. Besides, Dexter is adoubledorable all on his own.

Dexter looks slightly away from the stoopid stuffed thing and his STOOPID HOOMIN in the vain hope that, when he looks back, both will be gone. The camera did not record the look of disgust on Dexter's face when the stuffed monstrosity and the stoopid hoomin were both still there.
